Description

The Orsa Chair has a frame of solid oak and a seat of hand-woven paper cord, around a hundred and twenty metres of it, pulled tight across the rails in a double-layer envelope pattern. The back is a single Y-shaped splat, shaped so it meets the spine at the right height and gives slightly when you lean, with a curved top rail bridging the rear legs.

Nordmark Snickeri weave each seat in-house, and the cord firms up after the first few weeks of use before settling for good. Oak takes the weaving tension without creeping, and the frame joints are all mortise and tenon. It is small enough for tight dining spaces and strong enough to be the chair you keep.

Made to be kept

Solid wood and honest joinery. Aino makes chairs, sofas and tables to be used for decades.

Nothing here is built to be replaced. The frame is made to last, and the parts that wear can be looked after instead of thrown away.
