Glimminge Armchair

The Glimminge Armchair is a cantilever of flat steel bar, bent into a single loop that forms the base, the arms and the back support. Across it are slung two panels of thick aniline leather, one for the seat and one for the back, laced to the frame with leather cord along the sides. There is no padding. The steel flexes under you with a long, slow spring that never quite stops moving.

Studio Malm kept the frame visible on every side, so the chair looks almost empty from across a room and only reveals its weight when you sit. The steel is powder-coated and the leather is left bare to mark and darken. It belongs in a hallway or a study as much as a living room.
