Description

Åre has no straight lines above the base. The back curves from arm to arm in a single sweep, and the seat is a rounded cushion that follows it, so two people sit slightly turned toward each other. The base is a sledge of solid oak, two flat runners joined by a crossbar, which lets the sofa slide a little when you move it on a wooden floor.

The upholstery is suede, brushed in one direction, with a nap that shows handprints for a moment and then recovers. Seat depth is 58 centimetres at the centre. Åre suits a conversation corner or the end of a long room where something softer than a box is needed. Designed by Mats Furuholm for Form & Furu.

Nothing here is built to be replaced. The frame is made to last, and the parts that wear can be looked after instead of thrown away.
