Åhus Dining Table

The Åhus is a straightforward rectangular dining table, 200 by 90 centimetres, with a solid oak top finished at 40 millimetres. The edge is chamfered on the underside, so the top reads thinner from a seated position than it is. Four square oak legs sit at the corners, leaving the full length clear for six chairs, and a steel stretcher runs between the end rails to hold the frame square under daily use.

Tallkrona Studio built it for the room it ends up in rather than the showroom. The oak is oiled, not lacquered, which means marks can be sanded and re-oiled at home. Over years it gathers a surface of its own, and the proportions stay as they were.
