Description

The Karlsö Chair stacks six high. Its frame is a continuous loop of powder-coated steel tube, bent so the back legs angle out for stability and the seat sits slightly reclined. The seat and back are two separate shells of pressed oak veneer, each fixed to the frame at three points with a rubber buffer so nothing rattles. The back shell flexes a few degrees when you lean.

Studio Malm drew it for studios, canteens and apartments where a table has to host four on weekdays and ten at the weekend. The oak shell is thin but tough, and the steel frame has rubber feet that leave floors alone. Stacked in a corner, it takes up less space than a single armchair.

Karlsö Chair comes in Black Steel and Sand.

Made to be kept

Solid wood and honest joinery. Aino makes chairs, sofas and tables to be used for decades.

Nothing here is built to be replaced. The frame is made to last, and the parts that wear can be looked after instead of thrown away.

Buy one good thing instead of three cheap ones, and keep it.
