Ingarö Lounge Chair

The Ingarö Lounge Chair is a low frame of solid oak, with wide flat arms and a seat that sits closer to the floor than most. Two loose cushions, one for the seat and a taller one for the back, rest on a webbing base and are covered in a heavy wool textile. The back is set at a reclined angle and the arms are long enough to lie along with the forearm.

Elin Söderberg designed it as a chair to stay in, and the proportions make that easy. The oak frame is oiled and joined with exposed through-tenons at the arms. The cushions can be turned and the covers removed. It takes up a fair amount of floor and earns it, becoming the place in the room people drift toward.
