Description

Eriksberg is a writing desk in the older sense: a place for paper, a pen and one lamp. The top is 140 by 65 centimetres in solid walnut with a leather panel set flush into the centre, so a hand resting on the surface meets something soft. Three drawers on wooden runners sit under the top, the centre one shallow for pens and the two outer ones deep enough for folders.

The tapered legs are turned from the same walnut and joined to the frame with mortise and tenon, with no visible hardware. A brass grommet in the back corner takes a lamp cord. Designer Henrik Vall drew it at 76 centimetres high so that it also works as a dressing table or a hall table when the office moves elsewhere.

Made to be kept

Solid wood and honest joinery. Aino makes chairs, sofas and tables to be used for decades.

Nothing here is built to be replaced. The frame is made to last, and the parts that wear can be looked after instead of thrown away.
