Description

Askim is built low and long, with a seat height of 40 centimetres and a back that stays below the line of a windowsill. The frame is a slim steel section, powder-coated and welded into a single rectangle that carries the seat on flat webbing. From the side the sofa appears to hover a few centimetres above the floor.

The leather is aniline, dyed through without a pigment coat, so it marks and darkens where hands and arms rest. After a few years it looks lived in rather than worn out. Askim suits an apartment with large windows, where the sofa should not block the light or the view. Designed by Lovisa Norrman for Norrsken Design.

Made to be kept

Solid wood and honest joinery. Aino makes chairs, sofas and tables to be used for decades.

Nothing here is built to be replaced. The frame is made to last, and the parts that wear can be looked after instead of thrown away.

Buy one good thing instead of three cheap ones, and keep it.
